Do UAE banks check my credit score for a mortgage?
A short answer, with the article it comes from.
The answer
Yes. The Central Bank requires every lender to examine your credit record and to verify your existing debts with the credit bureau before granting credit. What score a bank accepts, and how it weighs your history, is each bank's own policy rather than a published rule.
CBUAE Consumer Protection Standards Clauses 7.1.4.4, 7.1.4.8 and 6.1.5.2, checked 2 October 2026.
The Consumer Protection Standards say a lender "must examine the credit record of the Consumer to verify his/her solvency, ability to meet monthly credit obligations and past credit behavior", and that verification with the Credit Information Agency must also be completed.
The report matters for what it lists as much as for the score. Every loan on it is counted in your debt burden, and banks on our panel count 5 percent of each card's limit, so a facility you have forgotten, or a card you never use, still reduces what you can borrow.
If something on your report is wrong, the lender that reported it must check your request and, where a correction is needed, report it to the credit bureau within 7 complete business days of being notified.
We do not publish a minimum score, because banks do not publish one. A specialist can go through your report with you and tell you which banks are likely to view it most favourably.
Minimum scores, how history is weighed, and counting 5 percent of a card limit are lender practice. The credit score range is not stated here because the bureau's own page could not be read to verify it.
Rules are the easy part. Your file is the question.
