In Short

The short version. The detail follows.

A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser, so it can recognise your browser on your next page or your next visit. Similar tools, such as tags and pixels, do the same job without being files. This page covers them too.

The Three Types

TypeWhat it is forCan you turn it off?
EssentialKeeping the site working, such as remembering your cookie choice, and staff logins.No. The site needs them, so they are always on.
AnalyticsCounting visits and seeing how pages are used, so we can improve them.Yes.
MarketingMeasuring which adverts bring people to the site.Yes.

Cookies We Need

Staff who log in to manage the site get a login cookie and, when they preview a change, a preview cookie. Visitors never receive these.

Where we show a cookie banner, your browser also keeps a note of your choice, so we do not ask again on every page.

Measuring Visits

Google Analytics 4 counts visits and shows which pages people read, how they arrived and roughly where they are. We load it through Google Tag Manager, which is how our Google tags reach the page.

Measuring Adverts

Google tags measure how our Google adverts perform, and the Meta Pixel measures how our Facebook and Instagram adverts perform. They tell us, for example, that a visit came from an advert and whether an enquiry followed.

How Pages Are Used

Microsoft Clarity shows how pages are used: where people click, how far they scroll, and recordings of visits.

Session recordings never capture what is typed into the enquiry form. The form's fields are hidden from the recording.

Choosing Your Cookies

Where we show a cookie banner, you can accept all cookies, reject the ones that are not essential, or choose by type. You can change your mind at any time through Cookie Settings in the footer.

If you reject Analytics and Marketing, the site works in the same way, and you can still send an enquiry.

Blocking and Deleting Cookies

  • In your browser. Every major browser lets you block cookies, delete them, or browse privately. Look under Privacy in its settings. The same settings list every cookie a site has set, with how long it lasts.
  • Google Analytics. Google's opt-out browser add-on stops Google Analytics measuring your visits on any site.
  • Google adverts. Turn off personalised ads in My Ad Center.
  • Meta adverts. Change what Meta uses to show you adverts in Ad Preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings.

Blocking cookies does not stop the site working. What we do with the information these tools collect is in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to This Page

When we add or remove a tool, we update this page and change the date at the top.
