EIBOR, and what it means for your mortgage.

Questions

About EIBOR.

What is EIBOR?

The Emirates Interbank Offered Rate: the official benchmark rate set by the Central Bank of the UAE, published for six tenors from overnight to one year.

Which EIBOR does my mortgage follow?

Your offer names it, usually as a margin plus 1-month, 3-month or 6-month EIBOR. The tenor also tells you how often your rate can reset.

Why is every figure dated?

EIBOR is fixed each working day. A figure without its date could be from any day, so every figure here carries the date of its fixing.

Does a lower EIBOR always lower my payment?

Only on a variable rate, and only down to the minimum rate in your offer. A fixed rate does not move until its fixed period ends.
